No junk food! Delicious freshly prepared menu. Authentic, unpretentious decor but very stylish. Very pleasant clientele and relaxing atmosphere. One of the few places to impress us in the area. It would be super to have a glass of wine and a snack at sunset but as yet not available I understand. Congratulations everyone - it’s great

My husband and I regularly visit the guard room,on average once a week, their coffee is probably the best in Plymouth,in my opinion, and goes very well with a piece of their carrot cake, which is delicious, the staff are always very friendly,it is always so relaxing to sit by the sea,

Although the outside of the Guard Room looks umpromising the inside is well fitted out with excellent views over the Cattewater towards Laira Bridge. My full English Breakfast arrived in 7 minutes and was certainly good value. As with so many cafes though, the mushrooms need to be improved along with the temperature. Why do most cafes struggle with this? That aside I am happy to give this local cafe 5 stars as it is certainly well above average offering good value.

Very busy eatery with all but one table occupied. There were free tables outside, however the heavy rain and chill in the air put a stop to that option. Excellent food and drinks. Prices were generally very fair. Thank you.

I enjoyed the big pots of tea with my friends. Love the outside seating that offers lovely views of the river, perfect for enjoying coffee or light meal while soaking in the scenery. Cozy, inviting, and ideal place to relax after a stroll around the area. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe. Ticks all the boxes!

We are moving into the area and was recommended to try this hidden gem. If you're not told or know about The Guard Room, you are very unlikely to come across it. It sits on the mouth between the river plym and Hooe estuary, and the view out of the wall to wall windows never mind outside on the decking is one of those moments you relish and totally enjoy. We'll we were not disappointed. The staff were very polite and professional, always helpful and gracious. The food was well presented and fulfilling and very good produce. It was a joy to sit and eat, taking in the views. I can't wait to visit this place in the spring/ summer and enjoy the view and atmosphere outside on the decking, and may I say the best latte I have had in a very long time. Parking can be a problem as it is a popular place and parking is at a minimal but there is extra parking entering via turnchaple and parking in the car park at the very bottom and walking through the gates to gain access to The Guard Room. Thank you so much to the staff. we felt so welcomed and looking forward to a future visit, even if it is just for a coffee .

A really lovely, completely wheelchair accessible place to eat with a great view. The staff are so kind and make you feel very welcome. I've been multiple times , my favourites being the crew burger, halloumi salad and the bacon, brie and cranberry panini. I definitely recommend the chai lattes!
